Finally, a YMC X Grenson collaboration. We worked with YMC to create two beautiful unisex boots made in the Grenson factory, Northamptonshire. Launching exclusively in the Grenson Bloomsbury store and YMC’s Hanbury Street and Poland Street stores 09.09.24 and launching online 26.09.24.
The boots draw inspiration from the iconic film Midnight Cowboy, and take a classic workwear silhouette, making them relevant for a city environment which reflects the design ethos at the heart of both brands. Inspiration came from a Grenson 1930s vintage design and a pull-on boot from the YMC archive, tweaked with a Goodyear construction.
They are designed and built to look and feel timeless - the black boots are made from Chromexcel leather, a waxy American pull up leather from the 5th generation Horween tannery in Chicago, which is soft and supple and very hard wearing, while the brown version is made in a dark tan Hunter, whose rich oils provide the depth of colour. Both are designed to age well, be low maintenance and take on a vintage appearance over time.
“Jimmy, the founder of YMC has always been a mate and I’ve always loved his brand. In many ways it’s strange that this didn’t happen before, but it makes total sense as we have similar followers and share the same principles. But this boot has an additional emotional edge to it as it was the idea of Fraser, Jimmy’s partner since the beginning, who passed away shortly after seeing the first prototype. Here’s to you Fraser” – Tim Little
