Earlier this year Mr Porter asked us to create an exclusive made in England men's Hiker boot for them. The boot takes inspiration from vintage Alpine ski boots from the 1920s and 30s but with a focus on luxury. The boots are hand made in our Northamptonshire factory using the unique Veldtschoen construction, which can only be made in a few factories worldwide.
Attention was given to the materials used which consist of a large single piece vamp, deep crossover lacing and a padded bellows tongue. Herbie also has a padded collar around the ankle and v shaped seaming on the side. There is no welt but instead the upper is flanged outwards and stitched directly to a thick leather through and to the rubber commando sole. This naturally deflects water away from the upper giving you a high performing walking shoe.
Available here in brown hatched grain "Russia calf" leather and made skin-to-box in the Grenson factory Northamptonshire, England.
He's a true boot makers boot if ever there was one.
