Grenson x Liberty Spring/Summer 2016
Made in our UK factory as part of our Grenson Projects, exclusively for Liberty, four styles for both men and women.
These two iconic English companies, were founded only a few years apart and have come together to produce two men’s and two women’s styles that both come in two colour ways of the 1940’s Liberty “Tana Lawn” print. The leather has been carefully printed in black and blue versions of the print in the UK with the Liberty design, and the lining leather has been tanned in Liberty’s classic purple.
“Liberty was founded in 1875, within 10 years of Grenson and we therefore feel some true affinity. William Green, our founder, would have visited this exciting new shop as he attended his private clients around the capital. It’s a lovely thought therefore that we can combine the best of both companies to celebrate the year of our 150th anniversary.” Tim Little, Creative Director and owner of Grenson.
Notes on Liberty prints we have chosen to for this collection. The prints coincidentally named ‘Clare and Emily’ are Tana Lawn from the classic ‘Tana Lawn’ collection by Liberty Art Fabrics. They are based on a late 1940’s design originally printed at Liberty’s Merton Print works, the Clare and Emily fabric design was revived in 2012, and has now been re-scaled and re-coloured for the classic ‘Tana Lawn’ collection.
We’ve taken our bestselling Men’s Archie brogue and Fred boot, and our best selling women’s styles, Emily brogue and Clara tassel loafer, all on the Grenson white wedge. They come in two colour ways – blue and white, and black and white. All styles are lined with Liberty’s signature purple calf leather.
The Grenson x Liberty collection will be available exclusively at Liberty, in store and online, from February 19th 2016.
